To Do in November

November is an exciting time in New Hope, with plenty of things to do, like checking out new shops and restaurants along the Delaware riverfront. There’s hardly a time you won’t find Main Street bustling with visitors, especially this time of year when looking at the beautiful fall foliage is enough to get you out of the house. You can find warm and cozy new fall fashions at Angel Heart’s, grab tickets to a show at the Bucks County Playhouse, or simply stroll the streets to take in all of New Hope’s rich history.

No matter what your interests are, there is something in New Hope for everyone. There are even a few exciting new projects coming to Bucks County over the next few months.

The Carriage House is close to completion. For those unfamiliar, the Carriage House is one of New Hope’s oldest historical homes, built in the early 1700s, and is currently being renovated and will soon offer a unique option for overnight guests in the New Hope and Lambertville areas. The inn will be just steps away from Main Street in New Hope and within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants across the bridge in Lambertville.

The face of New Hope’s waterfront is quickly changing, and the redevelopment project spearheaded by the Bridge Street Foundation is well on its way. Just a few weeks ago, the Bucks County Playhouse held the groundbreaking ceremony to initiate the final phase of the playhouse’s renovations. The expansion adds 3,750 square feet of lobby space that will serve as a bar and a café.

The playhouse performance season is in full swing, most recently with a unique performance of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which had the audience dancing to the time warp and singing along with Dr. Frank N’ Furter all night. Wednesday, November 9, will be the opening night for Buyer and Cellar, a hilarious new comedy, which will run through Saturday, November 26. If you want to catch the show before opening night, there will be several preview performances from Saturday, November 5- Tuesday, November 8.

You might also be pleased to know that the Playhouse Inn construction is finally set to begin later this month. The plans include a 180-seat restaurant and a 12-room hotel, located in the former Zadar’s night club building.

New Hope’s seasonal events are as eclectic as the town itself. From November 12 through December 18, New Hope Arts will be hosting its 17th annual juried exhibition, which will feature the woodworking skills of more than 50 artists. “Works in Wood 2016” is open to the public from noon to 5 p.m. for the duration of the show at the New Hope Arts second floor galley at 2 Stockton Ave.

New Hope’s dining and nightlife scene is still bustling after a fun-filled Halloween weekend. On October 19, Lambertville welcomed a brand new Texas-style BBQ restaurant downtown. More than Q BBQ is serving up traditional southern favorites like smoked brisket, burnt-end baked beans, and house-made pickles. Owner Matt Martin is already familiar with New Hope and Lambertville, having been a part of the Stockton Farm Market for four years.

Downtown New Hope is the perfect place for a weekend stay, with plenty of entertainment, unique food, and special events happening all the time. Convenient on-street metered parking makes all shops easily accessible while you shop and dine ‘til you drop!
